About Lama
Lama is a percussionist from the city Salvador di Bahia in Brazil. Already at a very young age he toured Europe with the group Bagunçaço. As a professional percussionist in Brazil, he participated in projects such as the group Os Zárabes of Carlinhos Brown, the group Afro-Sudaka of Ramiro Mussotto and the singer Daniela Mercury, with whom he took part in the carnival of Salvador in 2006. In 2008 he moved to Brussels where he has collaborated with artists and groups such as Renaud Patigny, Sweet Coffee, Carla Visi and Spaicy and participated in other musical projects and festivals such as Couleur Café, Tomorrow Land and Zinneke Parade. He teaches percussion at cultural centre Pianofabriek in Brussels and is invited for percussion workshops throughout Europe and beyond. Lama has a special interest in the rhythms of the Candomblé religion, but during his career he has also studied Cuban, Latin and African percussion, and continues to be inspired by world music percussion in general, always in search of a fusion of elements for his compositions and projects.
